I was heading to an assignment this morning while listening to the scanner when I heard a full comp dispatched to a "person stuck in mud." Not a call you hear every day.  It was nearby - I actually beat the fire department there - so I just had to see this for myself. Wouldn't you know, here this guy is, waist deep in the mud. While doing survey work at a construction site, he stepped into a muddy pocket...and couldn't get out. They called out the full brigade for this one - a trench rescue unit, two heavy-rescue squads. But in the end, all it took was a couple wooden planks and some muscle from the firefighters.  He wasn't hurt it all, except maybe his pride, so it was nice to see some "happy" spot news for a change.
