Saturday, May 7, 2005 - Without question, my favorite thing to shoot is our weekly Life in Focus photo feature (I usually end up doing it once or twice a month). I'm free to find my own assigments. I can be as creative as I want. That's not to say I'm not usually creative with other assignments, but with Life in Focus, there are no word editors to convince. There are no reporters or anyone else involved - it's just me. Anyway, this is from the Orlando Fire Department's 120th birthday celebration. Firefighter Andy Coutu rescues fellow firefighter Anthony Donohoe during an aerial rescue demonstration as they both dangle about three stories up, along the wall of the Orlando Science Center. "We would've put you out there if there weren't so many people around," said one of the firefighters, only half kidding. I think hanging half my body over the edge of a six story building to get this shot was adventurous enough for one day.
